Question: Why do I need to register for LAYLAX and at US Lacrosse?

Answer: US Lacrosse (USL) is the national not-for-profit organization who sanctions our local lacrosse program. In order to participate in NM lacrosse activities, we are a registered program with USL. In return for our membership, they provide liability insurance, coaching certifications, and grant opportunities, education and other benefits. For more information, please visit their website at https://www.uslacrosse.org

Question: When does Los Alamos Youth Lacrosse (LAYLAX) season begin and end?

Answer: Typically, high school age players (grades 9-12) practice 4-5 nights a week beginning in February, as soon as the fields are available without causing damage. Weather, particularly weather that risks damaging the fields, may cause some practices to be cancelled. Game play usually begins in March. State championship games are held in late April and early May. Youth players typically begin practice in early to mid March, with games from late March through mid-May.
